Why cloud telephony?

Cloud telephony is a cheap alternative to analog or ISDN telephone systems and more in demand than ever. This is because Telekom will be switching to an All-IP based system, and ISDN is not going to be useable anymore. Cloud telephone systems are just as suitable for small and medium-sized businesses as they are for large companies since cloud telephony offers great flexibility and cost transparency.

What is cloud telephony?

A cloud telephone system is a software-based telephony solution, where the users receive all of the functionality of traditional telephony through a Software as a Service solution (SaaS) from their provider, this means that you no longer need to invest in expensive Hardware solutions. The provider then takes care of all of the Maintenance and software updates as well.

Technical requirements for cloud telephony

  • Telephone systems in the cloud need neither hardware nor analog telephone lines or ISDN or PMX system connections. As the service is obtained over the Internet, a high-performance Internet connection is required for use. Communications take place either via a stationary IP-capable telephone or via a softphone (eg a desktop app).
